Morales' sister-in-law, Destinee Wedel, said the family met at the Tulsa International Airport on Thursday for his arrival. Police then escorted his casket to Green Hill Funeral Home.

Private Gregory Morales went missing from Fort Hood last August. The army declared him a deserter.

The family told 2 Works for You authorities found his remains last month in a shallow grave outside the army post, Fort Hood.

Morales' family said Gregory's story isn't over.

The chain of command needs to step up, instead of marking people as AWOL as soon as they go missing. They actually need to take it as a missing person's case, unless it’s a circumstance where they actually know they went AWOL.

Wedel said Morales loved to have fun, dance, and always made sure his family was safe. She said she will miss his goofy personality the most.
