Every year the United States observes National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15 by "celebrating the histories, cultures and contributions" of Hispanic Americans.
It started as a one-week observation under President Lyndon Johnson in 1968, and then, it was expanded to 30 days in 1988 by President Ronald Reagan.
To celebrate, many cities nationwide hold festivals, events and activities for the community to learn about different Hispanic cultures.
Green Country is also participating in the observation.
