ADAIR COUNTY, Okla.- The Grand River Dam Authority police are investigating a drowning near the Chewey Bridge on the Illinois River Thursday afternoon.

GRDA officials say a 66-year-old male was swimming in the river with family and friends when he went underwater twice and resurfaced, but was not able to resurface after going under for a third time.

Officials say his family and friends were eventually able to recover the man's body from the water.

The man's identity has not been released at this time.
