CHOUTEAU, Okla. -- Firefighters from several departments helped put out a fire overnight at the Grand River Dam Authority's power plant in Mayes County.
Justin Alberty, communications director at the GRDA, said he thought lightning may have sparked the fire on one of the plant's buildings.
Alberty said the fire hurt none of the employees or any of the crews working at the time. Firefighters from multiple departments, including Verdigris and Tulsa, responded to help Chouteau crews put out the fire. The cause remains under investigation.
It's unclear how much damage the building sustained. Alberty said the GRDA began Saturday morning assessing the damage from the fire.
