Government agency researching helmet and sports injuries

Posted
and last updated

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is studying helmets and sports injuries.

Officials say the CPSG’s Sports Helmet Project will look at the different head and neck injuries that happen during youth sports that require helmets, like football, hockey, and lacrosse.

The agency is looking into incidents where the helmet did not work as it should have, if it broke or if it came off during contact.

The CPSG is asking parents to report what kind of helmet their children were wearing when they received a head or neck injury. You can submit that information here.

U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission Investigators will compile the data to help engineers make recommended changes for helmet safety standards.
