OKLAHOMA CITY — Governor Stitt gave an update on the state's response to the coronavirus and Phase Two of the Open Up and Recover Safely (OURS) plan.

Gov. Stitt said there are two common objectives for Oklahoma:

  • Beat the coronavirus
  • Quickly revive economy

He said Oklahoma has the 8th fewest cases per capita in the nation and is testing more people per capita than California, Georgia and Florida.

Oklahoma should be proud of this.

Oklahoma is 20 days in to the announced measured approach to reopening the economy. Stitt said just a fraction of Oklahoma's hospital beds are in use and testing is increasing. More than 25,000 tests were performed last week, and out of 1,000 tests taken, an average of 48 are coming back positive.

Gov. Stitt says the state is testing enough, according to World Health Organization guidelines, as of last night, there are 932 active cases in Oklahoma.
