TULSA — Governor Kevin Stitt is scheduled to give his first State of the State Address to the Tulsa business community Tuesday.
In the past, Governor Stitt has said he wants to focus on Oklahoma’s education, prison reform, health care and economy, all as a way to make Oklahoma a top ten state.
President and CEO of the Tulsa Regional Chamber Mike Neal said the governor has been hands on and aggressive in working to get businesses to Oklahoma.
But one of the problems local businesses are dealing with right now is unemployment and finding enough skilled workers to fill positions.
Neal said the international trade issues with the US and china are also challenges impacting businesses in Tulsa and across the state.
“Some businesses here say they’ve not felt it at all," said Neal. "There are other businesses out here, many of which are manufacturers, small to mid-size, to larger manufacturers, who are feeling it really badly who are really suffering as a result of the tariffs.”
Neal hopes there can be a positive resolution to stimulate fair trade and enhance international trade throughout the US.
Governor Stitt is scheduled to speak at the Cox Business Center at noon.
