Gov. Kevin Stitt is honoring an Oklahoma priest who was murdered in Guatemala in 1981.

Stitt has declared July 28 as "Blessed Stanley Rother Day" in Oklahoma.

Father Rother from Okarche is on track to be the first American Catholic saint.

He was beatified in 2017, and now there is a shrine in the works along with a museum in his honor.
