Golden Driller celebrates 50th birthday

Posted

TULSA – Guess who is turning 50!

The iconic Golden Driller statue is celebrating his half century birthday on April 9.

He's there to kick off the Tulsa State Fair t-shirt design and was even used to help raise money for charity when city councilor Phil Lakin Jr. climbed him for local nonprofit agencies.

A birthday celebration will be held with activities, cake and even dancing! Local Tulsa band Mid-Life Crisis will play as guests are given the chance to take a selfie with the guest of honor.

Sparklers will be passed out for those in attendance to use during the lighting of the Driller ceremony.

Those interested in coming are encouraged to wear a Golden Driller costume.
