CADDO COUNTY, Okla. -- Oklahoma Game Wardens were surprised after a young girl made a unique catch on Fort Cobb Lake on Sunday.
Officials said Kennedy Smith of Lindsay was fishing with her grandparents when she caught a Pacu, which is a relative of the Piranha.
Pacu typically feed on plant materials, but are considered omnivorous, officials said. They are naturally found in freshwater waterways and lakes in South America.
Pacu have been caught in Oklahoma before, and officials said the introduction of the fish into Oklahoma waters is most likely from individuals buying them as pets and then releasing them.
Pacu can reach sizes up to three and a half feet and 88 pounds.
Anyone who catches one is asked to remove them from the watershed and contact their local game warden.
