BROKEN ARROW, Okla. -- Broken Arrow police officer Eugene Orr was laid to rest Thursday as hundreds of police officers from all over the state came to pay their respects.

Dozens of Oklahoma agencies were represented, each knowing Orr is some way. Orr was killed in an off-duty motorcycle crash on December 10.

He was a 12-year veteran of the Broken Arrow Police Department. While at the department, Orr worked in many capacities, including special operations and even being a school resource officer.

Those who knew Orr best say he made friends all along the way, his sense of humor and compassion made him a natural-born leader.

It’s something Captain Thomas Cooper says was not easily duplicated. He says it’s been a hard day for the department, but he hopes his cadets follow Orr’s lead.

"He touched everybody he came into contact with...so that's what I want people who didn't know him to know that he was a cop, he was a great friend, but no matter what, there was no stranger in his life,” says Cooper.

Orr and his family were escorted by many members of the Broken Arrow Police Department. They say they’re grateful for the community’s support during this time.

Orr also leaves behind a wife and two children.

In an effort to assist officer Orr's family, the Fraternity Order of Police has opened an account with First National Bank in Broken Arrow. Those interested in donating can make donations directly into the account.

A GoFundMe account has also been set up for Orr's family. Orr died in an off-duty motorcycle crash Saturday.
