TULSA -- Four retired Tulsa Police Officers passed away within one week of one another.
"It's a hard one for everybody," Chaplain Danny Lynchard, director of chaplains for TPD, said. "We have lost retired officers before and we have lost them in groups, but these officers just retired not that long ago and that's what makes such an impact."
Charlie Snap passed away from health issues, Wes Smith passed away from early onset Alzheimer's disease and Cpl. Tami Manz and Chris Hubeli passed away from cancer.
Thursday, a procession of the TPD Honor Guard rolled through town transporting Cpl. Manz's body. She entered medical retirement after 13 years with TPD to fight a battle with cancer.
She passed away over night.
"They'll always be police officers in their own minds, in their family's minds and in the minds of these police officers that are active," Chaplain Lynchard said. "You never quit being one, so they are losing part of the family."
The individual funerals are scheduled for next week. They will each have the Honor Guard present at their funeral.
"Some of these that have passed on were part of their unit, so they are going to take it very personally," Chaplain Lynchard said.
