TULSA — UPDATE: The 2 Cares for the Community Food Drive was a success and we collected 407 pounds of food. Thank you to all who took the time to stop by our channel 2 studios and donate a food item.

2 Cares for the Community's Food 2 Families kicks off Wednesday, November 20 in front of the 2 Works for You station.

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Green Country residents can donate non-perishable food items to the Food 2 Families drop-boxes available at all 17 Reasor’s stores until December 10th, 2019.

Due to the overwhelming support from our community, the Food 2 Families drive has broken collection records since it began 19 years ago and continues to be one of the top three food drives benefiting the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

“The mission of Channel 2 is to make a difference in our community, the place we call home,” says 2 Works For You Vice President and General Manager Amy Calvert. “That’s why we launched 2 Cares for the Community. We are committed to assist the food bank with their mission of fighting hunger and feeding hope.”

Last year, Food 2 Families brought in a total of $151,826 and 5,917 bags of food.

A live-drive will also take place on Saturday, November 23 at the 15th and Lewis Reasor’s from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m.
