TULSA -- Flights headed to Dallas are being diverted to the Tulsa International Airport because of weather.

Alexis Higgins with the airport said she knows of at least two flights that have stopped short of their destination. One is a Boeing 787 aircraft.

She said the air traffic is heavy because of thunderstorms in the DFW area.

The aircrafts park and wait for clearance from the FAA to take off and head towards their final destination.

Higgins said passengers remain in the airplane parked on the tarmac if the wait is going to be less than three hours. She did not anticipate they will be in Tulsa longer than an hour.

American Airlines flight 372 from Denver to Dallas is grounded in Tulsa.

Southwest flight 4503 was grounded in Tulsa but is now headed to Dallas.
