Trader Joe’s on Brookside, at 3702 S. Peoria, opened Friday, February 26 around 8 a.m.

It’s the store’s first location in Tulsa and many are wondering what makes this grocery store so unique.

Well, we took a quick tour of the store and asked employees what made it so special.

Tulsa themed murals are painted on the walls including ones showing Route 66 landmarks such as the Blue Whale.

Another aspect, most would say the most important one, that makes Trader Joe’s different from other grocery stores in Tulsa is the food.

We asked some of their staff what items they enjoyed the most.

One said the cookie butter, which is type of spread similar to peanut butter but it has a more ginger taste.

Another staff member pointed to the Hatch Chile Mac & Cheese that has roasted chiles from New Mexico.

From mini chicken pot pies to chocolate raspberry tamales, all the items seem to bear a version of the “Trader Joe’s” logo.
