DUNCAN, Okla. — UPDATE: Duncan Police have identified Wbiliado R. Varela Jr., 43, as the shooter in the fatal Duncan Walmart shooting on November 18. Rebecca N. Vescio-Varela, 31, and Aubrey P. Perkins, 39 have been identified as the two other victims, shot dead in their car.

Perkins was from Minco, and the other two were from Duncan. Police say all shots were fired in the parking lot; none were inside the Walmart.

Detective John Byers says at about 9:30 a.m. on November 18, dispatch received multiple 9-1-1 calls of a shooting in the Walmart parking lot.

Officers arrived on the scene one minute later to find three people dead.

"It should send a signal that if you're going to do something like this in our area, there is going to be a response, and law enforcement is going to take care of it," District Attorney Jason Hicks said of the response to the scene.

Varela was dead at the rear of the car; Vescio and Perkins were dead inside the car. Officers saw nine gunshot holes in the windshield of the car, and recovered a semiautomatic handgun near Varela's body.

Police say Vescio and Perkins were inside the Walmart to go to the money center, and then left to go to their car. That's when Varela got out of his vehicle, approached their car, and shot into the windshield, according to police. It's also possible he opened the front door and continued to fire.

Varela then went to the rear of the car, turned the gun on himself, and fired one time, killing himself, police say. There was a witness who approached the scene with a gun, but never made contact with Varela, according to police.

Varela and Vescio were married, according to police, but police are still looking into the extent of the marriage. Vescio and Perkins were dating, police say.

Police are still looking into how long Varela was waiting outside for Vescio and Perkins. Police say Vescio was a Walmart employee.
