BEGGS, Okla. -- The Okmulgee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after it says fireworks were used to detonate several mailboxes in Beggs.

Investigators say they believe the mailboxes contained fireworks that were ignited "by and unknown means."

The department says two of the fires resulted in a combined 10 acres of damage. Officials ask that citizens in Okmulgee County be on the lookout for suspicious activity near their mailboxes.

Witnesses reported an older model red/white striped truck during one of the events.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office at 918-756-4311.
