OKMULGEE, Okla. (AP) -- The Oklahoma Forestry Commission says firefighters are starting to bring a large wildfire in northeast Oklahoma under control.
Commission spokeswoman Michelle Finch-Walker said the Pharoah-Nuyaka fire near Okmulgee was about 60 percent contained Sunday afternoon.

Finch-Walker said slightly milder temperatures and higher humidity is helping firefighters get "a handle" on the fire that's burned nearly 35 square miles since Thursday.
She said fires since Thursday have burned more than 96 square miles and that the size is expected to increase as local fire departments begin reporting blazes they battled. Finch-Walker said only minor injuries are reported, including a firefighter who suffered leg injuries when he was struck by a vehicle.
She said several homes and buildings burned in Harper, Okfuskee, Okmulgee and Pawnee counties and emergency management officials are assessing the damage.
