TULSA -- An Uber driver was logging off when he rear-ended another vehicle, swerved off the Interstate while he car caught fire Friday morning.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the Uber driver was traveling westbound at approximately 6:42 a.m. and rear-ended a truck. OHP told 2 Works for You, the driver was in the process of logging off of his Uber shift before heading to another job.
After hitting the truck, the driver swerved off the interstate and his car caught fire. The car fire sparked a small grassfire.
The driver was cited for distracted driving due to the fact he was looking at his phone and didn't see the truck ahead of him, according to OHP.
Crews closed part of I-44 while they investigated the incident.
