Federal Transit Administration awards $3.2 million to Tulsa Transit

TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Transit's bus fleet is getting an update.

The Federal Transit Administration is giving $3.2 million to the Metropolitan Tulsa Transit Authority, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.

The department said Tulsa Transit will use the money to replace buses, rehabilitate a parking facility and get modernized technology for its Route 66 bus rapid transit line.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation will receive $9.1 million to expand and update the Oklahoma State University–Stillwater Community Transit maintenance facility, according to the department. It will also receive $1.5 million to purchase new buses.

In total, FTA provided $13.7 million grants for Oklahoma's transit projects through its Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program.
