At 4:41 a.m. this morning, Tulsa Police officers were called to the area of 4700 E. 81st Street.
A red SUV was traveling eastbound on 81st, the driver told the initial responding officers that she saw a person "lying in the road."
The driver told the officers that she swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the person, but that she was unsuccessful and struck the person in the roadway.
The pedestrian was deceased at the scene and the body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's office in Tulsa for further investigation into the cause of death.
The driver was taken to the hospital due to being "shaken up" by the collision, she did not have any injuries and the initial investigation has not led to any suspicion that she was under the influence of intoxicants.
The identity of the pedestrian is not being released at this time.
