Police identified a man killed Tuesday morning in an auto-pedestrian accident on a bridge over the Creek Turnpike.

Officers responded to a call for a “man down” in the 9500 block of South Sheridan Road around 6 a.m.

They say 49-year-old Michael Reid was jogging along the Creek Turnpike trail when he attempted to cross Sheridan and was hit by a northbound vehicle. The driver fled the scene.

Police say EMSA pronounced Reid dead at the scene.

The superintendent of Sapulpa Public Schools confirms Reid was the Chief Officer of Accountability of the school district. He also previously served as an elementary and middle school principal.

Officers say they do not have any suspect information but they did recover vehicle debris believed to be from the vehicle that struck Reid. They say they’re looking for a white truck with missing front grill parts and a loud muffler.

Anyone with information is ask to call Tulsa Police or Crime Stoppers at 918-596-COPS.
