Terence Crutcher was fatally shot by Tulsa police officer Betty Shelby on Friday. A department spokesperson claimed that Crutcher was not complying with orders to raise his hands, however, footage from the scene did shows his hands raised at one point.
The Crutcher family's legal team claimed on Tuesday that Terence’s vehicle had the windows rolled up at the time of the shooting, preventing him from reaching in to the car.
They went on to say that the “the proper thing to do would have been to maintain a perimeter and have a discussion [with Crutcher].”
In addition to those statements, they also claimed that even if Crutcher was “under the influence, there is no way this [the shooting] was an appropriate way to treat him [Crutcher].
