TAHLEQUAH, Okla. - A family with three children is trying to put together the remnants of what they have left after a fire destroyed their home Sunday.
Mark and Emmalle Enkey finished Christmas shopping for their three children and put the gifts under the tree when they went to pick up their children from neighbors down the road. They returned to find their home engulfed in flames.
Mark told 2 Works for You that he tried to find a way into the home to save anything, but the flames were too strong to go inside.
"[My] first thought was to try and get the fire out. We noticed it was too late, it was already gone. Second was is there any chance of getting in, maybe saving any of our animals that we had in the house."
All of their pets, from dogs to cats, birds and lizards were all lost in the fire.
A GoFundMe account has been set up for the family, and a Facebook group called Tahlequah Cares is also collecting items for the family.
