TULSA – A family in midtown was forced to evacuate their home overnight Thursday after flames erupted.

Tulsa firefighters were called to 45th near 41st Street and Harvard around midnight to extinguish flames that overtook the roof of a home.

Crews believe the flames generated from electricity, specifically above the microwave, following a power surge cause by a summer storm.

While no one was reportedly injured, crews did find smoke damage throughout the house.

Red Cross was called to assist the family following the fire.
