2 arrested after fake money shows up in Oklahoma

Posted

WASHINGTON COUNTY, Okla. - Fake money has been showing up all over Green Country, which has left law enforcement agencies trying to track down the source.

Last week, Sheriff's Deputies say someone went to the correctional facility in Washington County and tried to purchase a phone card for an inmate, but the bill was fake.

Officials say they didn't know the bill was fake until it was too late. Fake money also showed up in the Vinita area recently.

Last week, Sheriff's Deputies in Craig County arrested two men for forgery. Undersheriff BJ Floyd says the phony bills they used look pretty convincing even when it comes to the quality of the paper.

Floyd says these bills are some of the best he's ever seen. "Yeah, and you can see the little yellow markings on it. They even got them, and that's hard to do."

Reports of counterfeit bills may be rare in the area, but Floyd says law enforcement and businesses are on the lookout.
