TULSA, Okla. — 2 Works for You's Excellent Educator is Angus Valley Elementary P.E. teacher, Chris Corbin!

We surprised Corbin and interrupted his P.E. class with the excellent news.

Corbin's degree is in early childhood education. He taught 1st and 2nd grade for 10 years, but Corbin said P.E. is his passion.

I moved over here to P.E. because reading, writing, math and stem, and all that is so important. But without your health, I don't know how important all that stuff is.

Corbin uses every minute of every day teaching kids about health.

"We talk about the five keys to health, and you can be physically and mentally healthy," Corbin said. "It's not just about being strong and fast. It's about having someone to talk to and connect to."

Corbin also works tirelessly building the Sand Springs Cross Country program, teaching kids K-12 to put their toes on the starting line, give it their best and race at their own pace no matter the outcome.

"Like I said, I take it very seriously," Corbin said. "One, being a good positive male role model in an elementary school and two, just like I said, I know throughout my life just how much health and fitness has done for me, both physically and mentally, and have them spread that word to everyone."

Angus Valley Elementary Principal Angelia Noel describes Corbin as a mentor to the kids.

"He is phenomenal. He's a role model, he's a mentor, he's an encourager, it really doesn't get much better than him," said Noel.

Congratulations, Chris Corbin, for being a positive influence on kids of all ages and helping cross country athletes compete at major universities all over the country!
