CLINTON, Okla. — A former Clinton teacher has been sentenced to seven years in prison for second-degree rape of a student, records show.
Keri May Hoffman, 36, was arrested in April on multiple charges related to the rape. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation says Hoffman initially came to the Clinton Police Department with her husband after she confessed to him she was having sex with a 15-year-old student.
Hoffman told investigators that since March 30, she had sex with the student numerous times in her car and inside her father's detached garage in Custer County, officials said.
She used Facebook to communicate with the child and set up times to meet him, prosecutors said.
Officials say Hoffman took a group of students, including the victim, to the state capitol to participate in the teacher walkout in the spring. Hoffman said she picked up the victim first and dropped him off last, having sex with him each time, officials said.
Records show Hoffman pleaded guilty on Nov. 5 to second-degree rape, facilitating conduct/communication with a minor by use of technology and pattern of criminal offenses.
A Custer County judge on Monday sentenced Hoffman to 15 years in prison with 8 years suspended.
