OKLAHOMA CITY — Oklahoma City Thunder Head Coach Billy Donovan won't be returning next season, according to a report by ESPN.

Donovan's contract expired after the 2019-20 season, and both sides decided not to pursue an extension.

ESPN reported that sources said "the reality of Oklahoma City’s eventual transition toward a rebuild made it a challenge for the two sides to find a way to continue forward together."

In 2015, Donovan signed a five-year deal with the Thunder after leaving the University of Florida.

In five seasons, he compiled a 243-157 record as the Thunder's head coach, and four straight first-round losses in the playoffs.
