MCALESTER, Okla. — Oklahoma Department of Corrections authorities have captured an inmate they say walked away from a minimum-security prison early Wednesday morning.

Officials said Kenneth Laws, 39, was arrested in Hughes County near Stuart.

Laws reportedly went missing around 3:15 a.m. from Jackie Brannon Correctional Center. Staff said Laws did not show up for work at the prison's kitchen.

He is serving a five-year sentence for eluding a police officer. He will likely face additional charges after this incident, and moved to a higher-security prison, officials said.

Officials said Laws also walked away from a halfway house in Oklahoma City on Oct. 5, 2018.
