TULSA — Tulsa Public Schools opened enrollment for its free full-day preschool Monday.

Dr. Deborah Gist said the district added additional classes for the 2019-20 school year to accommodate every family in every community they serve. The hope is a child will be able to continue elementary school at the campus as preschool.

"We have really great evidence that students who started in pre-kindergarten do better in reading and all other subjects," Dr. Gist said. "They are more likely to graduate from high school. We even have longitudinal information that shows us they go on to be more successful after they leave us."

A child must turn 4-years old by September 1st to be eligible for preschool.

Students can be enrolled online. The process will require an email address, proof of residence, the student's birth certificate and immunization record and a parent or guardian's photo ID.
