New information has been released since Oklahoma Department of Corrections Director Robert Platton resigned in December.
A grand jury is set to reconvene in the investigation into the state's prison system next week, which the department says has nothing to do with Patton's resignation.
The DOC said Director Patton left to be closer to family. However, internal emails reveal a different story.
In one email, a member of Patton's security team says she believed he was forced out because of the ongoing investigation. Others reveal multiple changes to the formal statement announcing Patton's resignation, ultimately leaving out any mention of the grand jury.
Three state officials have resigned in the wake of the Attorney General's probe.
