Earth Day message from Poet Laureate Joy Harjo

Unite States Poet Laureate Joy Harjo shared a special Earth Day message.

Harjo, a Tulsa native is a member of the Mvskoke Nation and belongs to Oce Vpofv (Hickory Ground). She shared a video on the YouTube channel Southwest Roots Music.

April 22, 2020 is the 50th anniversary of Earth Day. It is a day established in 1970 on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It includes events coordinated globally by the Earth Day Network in more than 193 countries.

For her message today, Harjo shared a poem, changing the words slightly to reflect the rainy Earth Day weather in Tulsa.
