TULSA – Troopers are searching for the driver involved in a chase that hit speeds up to 80 mph Thursday morning.
Oklahoma Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle near Gilcrease Museum Road and when the driver, 18-year-old Jacob Crain, refused to pull over, a chase ensued.
OHP says the driver took the troopers through Sand Springs and through northwest Tulsa. The chase ended no 57th W. Avenue northbound about a mile north of Edison when the driver failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle crashed into a wooded area and the driver and passenger ran from the car.
Tulsa police were called to the scene and a K-9 officer was used to track a passenger, 38-year-old Melinda Overton, in the vehicle. The passenger, a female, was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated.
Currently, OHP says, they are still searching for Crain.
