Drumming for Donations

A renowned Tulsa Musician is now teaching the younger generation his craft.

The lessons go beyond their love of music, and in return the teacher is learning a few things from the students as well.

Brandon Holder has played drums for over four decades, he was a drummer for Leon Russell for years.

Holder is now taking his experience and teaching future drummers.

Caoillainn Hickey, a student of Holder, tells us, “I’ve been wanting to play the drums for six months and I got a drum set for Christmas after been asking for drums for a long time.”

Their love of drums is not the only thing Caoillainn and Holder have in common.

“I’ve always loved the police force and I’ve always wanted to do something good for them", Caoillainn says.

After hearing about the shooting of Sgt. Craig Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan, Caoillainn decided to raise two thousand dollars to buy donuts for the Tulsa and Broken Arrow Police Departments.

“I figured it was time to do something good for the police department cause they’re getting a lot of hate right now", Caoillainn says, "but they need to know that they have a lot of people that appreciate them and love them and support them.”

For Holder, the tragic shooting of the two officers hit close to home.

"My brother in law is a police officer here in town and he actually knew one of the officers who got shot and died”, Holder says.

The two set up a GoFundMe page and will use any extra money raised to buy gift cards for officers, as a thank you for their service to the community.
