Drowning victim recovered from Illinois River

According to the Grand River Dam Authority Police Department, a 67-year old male drowned in the Illinois River this morning.

At 10:18 a.m. the GRDA Police, Illinois River Fire Department, and Northeastern Health System EMS responded to a water rescue near Diamondhead Landing on the Illinois River.

The victim was floating in a Kayak when he struck a log jam and capsized.

According to officials he was trapped under water for several minutes.

He was recovered at 11:00 a.m. and transported to the Oklahoma State Medical Examiner's Office.
