Oklahoma Highway Patrol Troopers responded to Fort Gibson Lake at 10:00 a.m. for reports of a drowning incident.
Jon Malek, a 65-year-old male from Broken Arrow, jumped into the water to go swimming and immediately started to struggle.
Margie Malek attempted to throw a float cushion to Jon, but due to windy conditions was unsuccessful.
Margie was able to hold onto Jon till a bystander stopped to help.
Jon was transported to Cypress Cove Marina where they were met by Wagoner County EMS, he was pronounced deceased at 11:00 a.m.
