Reports were called in of a drowning incident that occurred at 7:47 p.m. Saturday evening, near the boat dock at Lake Murray in Carter County.
The victim, 34-year-old Stephen Maxwell of Ardmore, was pronounced deceased on scene.
According to a witness, Maxwell jumped off the swim deck of a stopped boat in the water.
The witness saw Maxwell struggling and attempted to rescue him,
Maxwell went underwater and did not resurface.
According to the report, Oklahoma Highway Patrol Marine Enforcement conducted a search and located Maxwell with side scan sonar at 8:00 a.m. Sunday Morning.
Maxwell was recovered by OHP Dive Team members at 8:46 a.m. approximately 300 yards south of the boat dock at Group Camp 2 at Lake Murray.
