FORT GIBSON, Okla. -- Officials said four dozen paddlefish were found dead Monday below the Fort Gibson Dam.
Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation biologists investigated after a fisherman reported seeing the dead fish.
The fish were found in various states of decay, signifying an ongoing issue for several days.
Officials said the dam had been releasing water, so the fish had been displaced from the location of death, and therefore, biologists were unable to determine a cause of death.
Officials did say the deaths could be tied to recent hot temperatures.
