TULSA- Dogs are supposed to bring joy to people's lives, but  a pit bull named Turk was put through a sadistic kind of Hell.

He was rushed to the vet Wednesday with a rotten mouth, starved to the bones, barely responsive from the pain.

"He was walking and when I called him, he kind of tucked his tail and ducked his head. You could tell he was really scared." said Amy Vaughan.

But it's muzzle that draws the most attention.

"It broke my heart when the vet called and said he had his mouth taped shut. I broke into tears, it's just unbelievable that people could do something like that." said Vaughan. "I'm assuming some did that and then dumped him up here."

Amy Vaughan found Turk in the parking lot of Turkey Mountain; whimpering, crying for help.

"The far kind of his tongue is one giant ulcer. The inside of his mouth he has tremendous amount of damage to the inside of his cheeks, his tongue, and part of his hard palate.  said Dr. Kim Huckaby.

"I don't know how long the tape had been on and he couldn't drink water or eat." said Vaughan.

He had surgery immediately, being a trooper through it all.

"As much pain as he was in, he never growled, he never raised a lip at us he absolutely just wanted help." said Dr. Huckaby.

Turk was given his name in homage to where he was found.

Amy can't keep Turk forever. He'll stay with her until someone takes him home for good.
