DEWEY, Okla.- Dewey police say they were called to a trailer park early Wednesday morning only to find an elderly woman dead inside her home. Police say the woman's 20-year-old grandson admitted to killing her.

Murder is rare in Dewey, but police believe they have their first case in a long time.

"He's a cruel person, he's a monster and he's just a monster,"   the woman's granddaughter Jennifer Beets said.

It started with a 911 call pleading for help from 20-year-old Donald Wayne Shimko telling police his grandmother was down.

"Yesterday he was arrested by our officers and OSBI on a second degree murder charge," Dewey Police Chief Mike Shea said.

Police say 64-year-old Alvita Shimko died from blunt force trauma to the head, her own grandson accused of killing her.

"There was a baseball bat found that appears to be the weapon used," Chief Shea said.

"He had no emotion, no emotion at all and it was disturbing and I really thought he did it," said Beets.

The family says there was never any tension between the two.

"I really don't know. He could have been under the influence of something at the time," Grandson Michel Fields said.

An otherwise quiet town and a quiet family, interrupted by violence.

The family says the funeral will take place next Tuesday and their grandmother will be put to rest in Dewey.
