An Air Force official stated 26-year-old Devin Patrick Kelley, the shooter at a First Baptist church in Texas, was court-martialed in 2012 for two counts of assaulting his wife and child.
He served in logistics readiness at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico in 2010, and then was discharged in 2014.
Kelley received a bad conduct discharge, 12 months of confinement and reduction in rank.
A spokeswoman confirmed that Kelley graduated from New Braunfels High School in 2009.
