DEQ offers free testing for private wells impacted by flooding

The Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality is offering free bacterial testing of private water wells that have been submerged in flood water in the following counties:

Canadian

Choctaw
Cleveland
Coal
Comanche
Cotton
Craig
Creek
Delaware
Garvin
Grady
Haskell
Hughes
Jefferson
Johnston
Latimer
Le Flore
Lincoln
Logan
Love
Marshall
Mayes
McClain
McCurtain
McIntosh
Murray
Muskogee
Nowata
Okfuskee
Oklahoma
Okmulgee
Osage
Ottawa
Pawnee
Payne
Pittsburg
Pontotoc
Pottawatomie
Pushmataha
Rogers
Seminole
Sequoyah
Stephens
Tillman
Tulsa
Wagoner
Washington

If your private well has been submerged in flood water, DEQ recommends that you do not drink the water until the well is disinfected and sample analysis indicates that the water is safe.

For sampling instructions and supplies, contact DEQ at 800-522-0206. The free testing is available until May 31.
