Posted

BROKEN BOW, Okla. (AP) - Authorities say a McCurtain County deputy and a hit-and-run suspect were wounded in a shootout near Broken Bow.

The Oklahoma Department of Wildlife says game warden Mike Virgin and deputy Corey Sharrock went to the suspect's home Friday and were met with gunfire when they arrived.

Sharrock was shot just below his bullet resistant vest, but managed to return fire and shoot Charles Brown in the arm.

Both are hospitalized in stable condition.
