Veterans Day is just around the corner and so it the annual run that honors them.
For the first time this year for Tulsa’s DAV (Disabled American Veterans) 5K, a local group called ‘Eagle Ops’ is dedicating a stretch of the race course to our fallen service members.
Boulder Ave. bridge that spans over the railroad tracks will be dedicated to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice to our country.
Eagle Ops said there’s about 180 slots open for families to sign up their loved ones for to be honored on the bridge during the run.
Johnathon Shepherd said this will be just like Washington, D.C’s Marine Corps Marathon, where an entire mile is dedicated to honoring fallen service members.
”We wanted to bring that to Tulsa for the DAV, I know it’s just kind of a short little 5k—over the bridge, but i think it’s going to be one of the most memorable portions of this year’s race,” said Shepherd.
The deadline for the free sign up is October First.
The run will be held on November 3.
