TULSA- Some of the most visible tornado damage in Tulsa is along Riverside Drive in Brookside.
Neighbors are still cleaning up from the EF-1 that touched down Tuesday night.
Luckily, many homes weren't damaged in this area, but trees were heavily damaged. Now people like Up with Trees want to make sure Brookside continues to bloom long after the storm.
Thursday crews turned their attention to some of Brookside's longest residents who were no match for Tuesday's tornado.
Marnie Hill lost her biggest tree in the storm, an end to an era for her home.
"It's kinda sad. I mean that tree was taken down has been standing in that spot longer than I've been alive," she said.
Her neighbor Matthew Hart, is thankful his home is still standing after a tree came close to slamming through the roof.
Luckily, another came to rescue.
"Relief a little bit when we saw this tree holding it up, but then you just become overwhelmed like what are you going to with this size of tree?" he said.
"This area definitely took the brunt of it, these blocks," said Up With Trees Executive Director, Steve Grantham.
Grantham says it'll take several weeks to bounce back. He says Mother Nature can be unpredictable, but there are ways to prevent more widespread damage from happening.
"Some of these trees were never properly maintained thirty, forty, years ago," he said. "We can put in trees that are going to be properly maintained for the long term and will hopefully live a much longer life."
Up With Trees is also giving away seedlings to residents, businesses, all apart of giving Riverside Drive a brighter and healthier future.
"It's Oklahoma, it's Brookside, so we will have some more that will grow," Hill said.
Crews have not specified which type of species will replace the old trees just yet, but they have several types available for Tulsa County residents. For more information, check out https://www.upwithtrees.org/trees-signs/seedling-giveaway/.
