Concerns over freedom of press continue for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
Last month, the tribe’s council approved a bill removing Mvskoke Media as an independent agency, placing it under the executive branch of the tribe.

Many argued it would impact their free press. Citizens then launched a petition to stop the new legislation, which they needed a least 100 signatures from registered voters.
The tribe says while they have 102 signatures and only 87 could be verified.
One of the sponsors of the petition says they will get more signatures and try again.
