“These decisions to close our schools and transition to a distance learning plan for the remainder of the school year are not taken lightly. We understand these closures create challenges for our students and families, as well as our employees. However, the health and safety of our students and staff members must be the top priority as we all do our part to stop the spread of coronavirus in our community. I have the utmost confidence in our teachers and administrators to implement an effective distance learning plan which will not only provide instruction, but flexibility for our students and families during this uncertain time. I am grateful for the hard work and diligence of the State Department of Education and the State Board to provide districts with guidance on a variety of topics. This is completely new territory for all of us, and we will continue to communicate with our employees and families. Our Trojan family remains strong, and I look forward to the day we can open the doors of our schools and gather together.” – Dr. Stacey Butterfield, Superintendent of Jenks Public Schools

Many districts have used online tools for some time and will be able to hit the ground running. Others have little connectivity and communities with little or no access to computer technology. Attorney General Mike Hunter has issued a consumer alert today after receiving reports of people attempting to sell at-home tests for COVID-19. Attorney General Hunter says that Oklahomans need to be on "high alert" for people attempting to sell or administer coronavirus home-testing kis. “There are currently no credible test kits on the market for the Coronavirus that someone can administer in their home,” Attorney General Hunter said. “Additionally, no health care provider, or other individual credentialed to administer tests for the virus, will call and offer to test people at random. Oklahomans need to be on notice that this fraud is happening in our state, and it will likely become even more prevalent in the coming days. Never purchase these tests, and report the individuals trying to sell them to my office or a local law enforcement authority.”
