Knitters needed for 'Click for Babies' campaign

TULSA – Attention all knitters, babies need you to help keep their heads warm and to spread awareness about potential harms that come from shaking babies.

The “Click for Babies” project is a grassroots campaign to teach new parents about the dangers of shaking a baby.

The campaign organizers are searching for people who knit and crochet to make purple baby caps to be given to new parents at local hospitals next month.

Click for Babies is looking for purple baby caps to signify the color that their group uses.

"Purple stands for different things. P is for peak of crying. U is unexpected. R is resist soothing. P is for pain-like face. L is for long-lasting and e is for the evening crying."

Because frustration with infant crying is the number one trigger for a person to shake or harm a baby, the caps come with a quick lesson on how to deal with anger or frustration as a new parent.

The people who live at Prairie Rose Retirement Community have already made dozens of them.
