TULSA, Okla — The nationwide pet adoption campaign, Clear the Shelters, resulted in the adoption of more than 88,000 pets this year.
Clear the Shelters day, Saturday, August 17th, with the participation of over 75 NBC and Telemundo stations from all across the country, and nearly one thousand animal shelters was a huge success.
Since 2015, the stations’ Clear the Shelters initiative has resulted in more than 250,000 pets finding their forever homes.
In the Tulsa area alone, over 10 shelters participated. A total of 280 pets in Green Country now have forever homes, thanks to the event.

Woodland Hills Mall saw its fair share of adoptions throughout the day as well, with five animal rescue groups bringing dozens of animals to the Clear the Shelters initiative.
The mall held a back-to-school fashion show with each model walking with an adoptable dog.
